KSAM: Temporal Perspective

In our previous blog, we discussed the distinction between spirit, mind, and body. Many people today prioritize the upkeep and beautification of their body, to the detriment and neglect of their mind and spirit. This body-consciousness often borders on obsession. But what does our Creator and Designer have to say about this?

Let’s read through Proverbs 31:30 in the following three translations and see what stands out:

“Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised!” – Proverbs 31:30, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” – Proverbs 31:30, New Living Translation

“Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but this virtuous woman lives in the wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity.” – Proverbs 31:30, TPT

These words make it clear that the body and its beauty or appearance are strictly earthly and temporal concerns, and not of eternal value.

In these scriptures we are being directed to live our lives from the eternal perspective. Interestingly, in the recorded conversations of Jesus with humanity, Jesus always addressed the questions He was asked from the perspective of eternity and from humanity’s eternalness. We will take a deeper look at this in our upcoming blogs.
